The Good Health Microwave Cookbook
Published in Hardcover by Bantam Doubleday Dell Pub (Trd) (December, 1990)
Authors: Carl Jerome and C. Wayne Callaway
Average review score:

Please re-release this book!
My mother has this cookbook and uses it all the time. I wanted to get a copy for myself since she's in California and I'm in New York, and was very disappointed to discover that it's out of print. As the other reviewer said, hopefully they'll put out a new version soon.

This is one of the best books of its kind I have found.
Nearly ten years after publication and this is still one of the best books of its kind I have found. I wonder if there is any chance it will be dusted off, updated, and re-released. I would be one of the first in line--I'd get copies for most of my friends. Not just low fat, and healthy--these recipes are GOOD! And they made me love my microwave.

Madonna: The Girlie Show/Book and Cd
Published in Hardcover by Callaway Editions (November, 1994)
Authors: Callaway Gardens and Callaway Editions
Average review score:

Great Companion to the Sex book
This book makes a great companion to the controversial sex book. Though the Sex book was controversial regarding whether it was true art or not, this book proves that Madonna is indeed a true artist, explaining that her concerts are not about her songs, they're more about creating an ambiance, mood, and journey. Though the book is relatively hard to find, it's definately worth it to any Madonna fan, or anyone who wants to impress their guests by displaying it on their coffee table.

The world's gaudiest coffee table book!
OK, so Madonna's second book was less controversial then her first (I forgot the name, something that rhymes with REX?). But this follow-up is nonetheless creatively assembled and beautifully shot. Think of it as "Truth Or Dare: The Written Edition". Stunning color photographs document Madonna's limited 1993 World Tour, which still ranks as her most glamorous and visually stunning show. Other goodies include behind-the-scenes photos and Madonna's own personal journal of the complicated tour. While turning the pages, you can listen to the CD insert, which features highlights from the show. An excellent book to read right after viewing her original concert film "Truth Or Dare", this is also a great companion piece to the home video "The Girlie Show-Live Down Under".

Specimen Tank
Published in Paperback by Manic D Press (July, 1993)
Author: Buzz Callaway
Average review score:

A Potboiler with a Universal Reach
Specimen Tank is a potboiler in the grandest tradition: a book so demotic in its aesthetic engagement that at times the reader's enjoyment of this debacle borders on an curiously ambiguous act of self-aggrandizing masochism. We relish the debasement, and yearn for more. And as a potboiler written with a keen sense of the liminations of the genre, it throws the baby out with the bath water, breaking free of the fetters of generic popular fiction to become a disquieting melody on the fragile vicissitudes of human existence. The author, by petulantly throwing the ladder away after we have scaled to the heights, leaves us stripped and denuded at the pinnacle, wondering, in the end, if this novel has clarified our vision of ourselves or clouded it? For Specimen Tank, like a punch-drunk fighter who unwisely decides not to throw a prearranged 'fix', has the bad manners to remind us that human existence is a game to be played, win or lose.

Outstanding
As a former drug researcher, all I can say is Buzz Callaway hit the nail on the head with this one. This dystopian gonzo novel explores the gradual descent of two protagonists from teaching, through sex performance, into being subjects for biomedical experiments. There's more truth in this book than anyone in the biotech industries would care to admit. Plus, it's funny as hell. If you don't like it, hand-deliver it to my house, and I'll buy it back from you.

Do the personel inventory and have the answers to the how come I can't lose weight answered. Use the recipes, they actually taste good. Georgia O'Keeffe
Published in Hardcover by Outlet (August, 1990)
Authors: Nicholas Callaway, Doris Bry, and Georgia O'Keefe
Average review score:

Gerogia's Paitings in beautiful reproductions
This book contains selections from Nicholas Callaway's other O'Keefe books- One Hundred Flowers, In the West, and New York Years. If you own only one of them, this is the one to own. There are some surprising paintings in here, especially if you've only seen the flower paintings before. The book is quite large, and the color reproductions seem pretty accurate from the few paintings I've actually been able to compare. Wonderful book!

Enchanting
The photographs enclosed within this beautiful book serve to haunt and enchant. The infamous Edward S. Highly recommended.

This is a collection of captivating tales from the bright side of family life. With 21 short stories, award-winning author and columnist Phil Callaway shows that our blunders and bloopers can turn into life's greatest blessings. You'll agree with Bob Hope's joke writer Martha Bolton: "'Honey, I Dunked the Kids' should be retitled 'Honey, I Just Wrote a Bestseller." I enjoyed every page. You will too.'"
